Bryce Tutorials

This tutorial is based on Abstract Techniques I learnt from Peter Sharpe and Psamtik .

Requirements: You should have basic knowledge in Bryce Materials, Object Editing and Importing Materials, before starting this tutorial.

Start out by downloading the files below and than start a new document in Bryce with these dimensions 800x600.
Tutorial Materials
Tutorial Sky&Fog

View Larger The first thing we need to do is Import the Materials and Sky&Fog. Do that now and then load the "Abstract Atm" Sky&Fog. once you have the "Abstract Atm" loaded, delete the Ground Plane and then create a new Torus. Now change the Torus's Attributes so they match my attributes in the example image.

View Larger The next thing we need to do is change our Torus material. Open the Materials Lab and change the Torus's material to the "Mirror (Blue 2)" material that you downloaded earlier and then close the Materials Lab.

View Larger Ok, we have a basic Torus object, lets make it interesting and add some Sphere's! For this abstract image we're going to need three Sphere objects, create each Sphere one at a time and change each Sphere's Attributes to match my attributes found in the links below. Once you've finished changing all three Sphere's Attributes, select all three Sphere's and change their material to the "Mirror (Default)" material that you downloaded earlier.
Sphere 1 Attributes
Sphere 2 Attributes
Sphere 3 Attributes
Your Sphere's should now be positioned exactly like my Sphere's in the example image on the left. Unless you changed your camera view, if you did change your camera view and you want it back to the Default setting, simply click on the small blue button located at the very top left corner of the Bryce interface.

View Larger In this step we need to add a few lights. Create two Radial Lights, one at a time and then change each Radial Lights Attributes to match my attributes in the example images below. Once you've finished adjusting both Radial Lights Attributes, select both lights and open up the Light Lab . In the Light Lab change the Intensity to 16, like shown in the example on the left.
Radial Light 1
Radial Light 2

View Larger We're nearly finished, sweet! What we want to do next is create a container to hold all our Objects and Lights. Create a new Sphere and then change its Attributes to match my attributes in the example image. Once your done, apply the "Mirror (Default)" material that you downloaded earlier to your new Sphere.

View Larger The last thing we need to do is change our Camera View. Double click the "Camera Trackball" and change its coordinates to match my coordinates in the example image and then save your Camera view.

View Larger Now render your image! Your image should turn out exactly like my image. For best results, make sure you render your image using "Super" or "Premium" Quality.
