Start a new document in Bryce
5 with the following dimensions 800x600.
Now the first thing we need to do is create a simple Sphere.
Click on the Create tab to bring up the Create Palette, now
click on the blue Sphere to create a new Sphere. Now click on
the small
located to the right of your Sphere to bring up it's attributes
window and change the attributes so they match my attributes
shown in the example image to the left and than click the check
mark to close the window. Make sure that "Positive"
is selected, otherwise your boolean will not work out |
| |
 |
Now we have a plain Positive Sphere, what
we need to do next is create a Negative Sphere. We'll take the
easy route this time, with your Sphere still selected press
Ctrl+c to copy it and than press Ctrl+v to paste a new Sphere
on top of the first Sphere. Now click on the small
again and change it's attributes to match my attributes in the
example image to the left. If you never noticed, "Negative"
is selected instead of "Positive". |
| |
 |
The only thing left to do is Group our Sphere's
to make a groovy Boolean :) Now with your second Sphere still
selected, hold down Shift and click on your first Sphere. Both
Sphere's should now be selected and the wireframes should be
a reddish color. Now click on the "G" button located
to the right of your Sphere's to group your objects and then
press Ctrl+r to render. |

 |
You should have a kind of cool looking Boolean
object, like shown in the example image to the left :) |
| |
 |
This tutorial only covered boolean Subtraction,
you can also use Intersection and Union. View the example image
to the left to see a few more examples. They are all simple
booleans, see what you can come up with :) If you want to see
some more complex boolean objects, click the small arrow located
to the right of the "Create" tab to bring up the Objects
window, then select "Boolean Objects" , the possibilities
are endless :) |
